I hope to use the skills we have covered in this program to guide me as I pursue college next year." (John Rhee ' 23)

  • "Going into the program, I did not know what to expect as leadership can be defined in many ways. However, the life lessons I took away from these meetings were very beneficial, varying from how to be more confident to managing money wisely. The program discussed understanding personal biases, building emotional intelligence, being an ally, and managing money. These lessons were not only engaging and thought provoking, but they also led me to form new habits and reflect on my own personal approach to leadership."  (Evan Virtue '25)

  • "I was also able to apply these ideas in practical settings through participation in various interactive exercises and conversations, which helped me better comprehend their practical consequences."  (Cole Cather '25)

  • "The Grant Legacy Leadership Program helps you develop what it takes to find achievement in all your endeavors in high school and beyond, not only in the workplace but also in everyday interactions...I would encourage all students to sign up for the program in the future." (Tom Duckenfield '25)

  • "The program highlighted that a leader does not need a special position or specific personality; instead, we must embrace our authentic character and lead in a manner that best utilizes that identity."  (Christian Weaver '25)

Student Quotes from our Partnership with Columbia University's Double Discover Center (Spring Semester 2020):

Shahnaz age 15-  Eyes Wide Opened You.nique is a program that partners with DDC that has helped me understand who I am. I want others to know me for who I really am, like what are my interests and what I want to become. Everyone who knows me knows that I want to become a doctor and help people live better lives. This program has allowed me to grow and know myself better. I learned how to do an elevator pitch which I think will help me a lot in the future because now I know how to express myself to someone and advocate for myself.

Jydin age 15 -  I participated in the Double Discovery program. It exposed me to enlightening opportunities such as the Eyes Wide Opened You.nique program which taught me how to present myself and become a leader. By becoming a lawyer, I can help advocate for my people and provide a greater change for my community.

Rahinatou age 16 - I am proud of myself for being part of this program because it was an intensive 3 week program with foreign students who were bright and ambitious about their future.
